June
June 12 - 16 Princesses, Queens and Kings
In this camp we will make up stories about princesses, princes, kings, queens and the beasts that populate their kingdom. We will bring those stories to life through drawings, paintings, making castles for our royalty to live in and constructing peg people royalty to live in the castles. The children can design their own projects as their imaginations bring them to light.
June 19 - 23 Sewing Camp One
In this camp the children do printed, tie-dye and painting techniques on fabric. We use the fabric to make pillows, skirts and bags. We also create patterns for felt stuffies, learn to pin the pattern onto the fabric, cut it out, hand sew, stuff and decorate them. Simple embroidery is also taught. The children leave wearing a new outfit and carrying a bag of hand made creations.
June 26 - 30 Mythical Beasts All That Creeps, All That Crawls and All That Flies
Here we let our imaginations soar as we create our magical creatures and make a place for them to live. We will be doing paper-mache structures and soft sculpture. Foam core will be the material we use to create the creatures lairs. Storytelling and painting our ideas will help give us our creative direction.

July
July 3 - 7---- Teacher Break
We will miss the children!
July 10 -14 Shadow Puppets
Puppet making with a twist as we set up the shadow puppet stage and make flat puppets out of color foam sheets that cast a shadow on the screen. The campers will be gathered into groups where they will make up their own stories, create the puppet characters and the scenery for each scene. On Friday afternoon are the performances.
July 17 - 21 Share Your Favorite Picture Book
I love picture books. The best ones have amazing stories and the illustrations are lessons in art. In this camp each camper will bring their favorite picture book to share. We will read one a day and then we will paint a painting to illustrate it. At the end of the week we will collect them all into a picture book of picture books:)
July 25 - 29 Rocket to Outer Space
Through story telling, drawing and painting we rocket to outer space in our imaginations. We will construct rockets or space ships and aliens that we meet along the way.

August
August 1 - 5 Teacher Break
We will miss the children!
August 7 - 11 Sewing Camp Two
In this camp the children do printed, tie-dye and painting techniques on fabric. This is the same description as Sewing One but each camp is different as each child brings their ideas of what they would like to create.
August 14 - 18 Furniture Painting
When I first began Winking Moon Art I painted stools for the children to sit on. We still use those stools today and the children have often asked about how they were created. I would love to give them a chance to paint their own stool in this camp. What if there is a theme and the campers make a stuffed animal that sits on the stool? What if...... The cost of the stool makes this camp a bit more in terms of price.
August 21- 25 Under the Sea
The ocean is a whole world just waiting to be explored. We will read picture books about the ocean and use them, along with our imaginations and our own stories to create paper fish sculptures, paintings, drawings, foam core boats, what about fish costumes? Once again the children can design their own projects as their imaginations bring them to light.
